Celebrating 5 Years as a Writer

16th August 2021

So another day and it’s not just another journal entry. Today marks 5 years since I began my foray into writing as a career. I still remember moving to Mumbai and coming to Lexiconn Content Services on my first day. I am grateful for the discipline and the lessons that I’ve learnt at this company. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege to meet fellow writers and people from a wide variety of careers including filmmakers, developers, graphic designers, professional dancers, and more.

As I sit down to write this post, I feel an overwhelming sense of joy because writing has taught me a lot about myself. Who would’ve thought that delving into this process would lead me to become my own best friend and save me from a lot of mental turmoil which was unneeded. My journey hasn’t always been smooth sailing, there were plenty of challenges and opportunities along the way, that helped me shape my own literary voice.

Ever since my first solo travel, writing has been my saving grace where simply penning down my thoughts would make anxieties disappear. I still cherish those Sunday visits to Bandstand where I’d face the Arabian sea and summarize my life situation while enjoying a cup of black coffee at the café. Though I haven’t been the most dedicated reader in all these years, I did get a chance to experience some literary masterpieces from the likes of Susan Cain, Mark Manson, and Jordan Peterson.

Through my writing, I’ve covered topics such as psychology, mental health, travel, e-commerce, cryptocurrencies, mining, travel, insurance, luxury products, events, online games, and more. During the pandemic, I also got an opportunity to write multilingual subtitles for the YouTube Channel Traveling Desi. Fast forward to August 2021, I was able to embark on a week-long work-cation to Goa, the cover image shows my workspace.

At the end, I would like to express my gratitude towards all the people who have inspired me to reach the point I am in life today. I wouldn’t have done it without you.

Sincerely,

Karan Balwani
